RaceTrace provides lap times and driving performance analysis to motorsports enthusiasts. GPS is used to record the path of your vehicle around a race track, autocross course, drag strip, etc. Why rent or buy an expensive transponder-style lap timer when RaceTrace provides much richer information at a fraction of the cost?

RaceTrace works for any track, anywhere in the world! It can be used for autocross, street circuits, dirt tracks, kart tracks, drag strips, etc. You need only give the track a name and draw the start/finish line(s). Use Autocross mode to specify a Track with separate start and finish lines.

The real-time recording display is designed to be highly visible, even in bright sunlight, and conveys information with just a glance. For example, every time you cross the start/finish line, your lap time will be displayed for a few seconds and the screen will flash one of four colors:

Purple - Your fastest lap ever at this track. Great job!
Green - Your fastest lap this session. Good.
Yellow - Faster than your last lap, but not your best.
Red - Slower than your previous lap.

The Speed vs. Track plot shows your speed at every point on the circuit. You can derive a wealth of information from this data, including your braking points, top speeds, and apex speeds. Up to 4 laps can be compared to pinpoint areas for improvement. The Time Gap graph shows you where one lap looses time compared to another. Compare your data to a more experienced driver to set goals for improvement!

RaceTrace comes populated with some sample data to allow you to play around with the app before you get to the track. You can delete those sample tracks and sessions once youre familiar with the app and have some data of your own. Remember, RaceTrace is NOT limited to those sample tracks. Define your own anywhere you go!

RaceTrace does not require an internet connection, but does require GPS, either internal (iPhone) or external. External GPS receivers can provide better accuracy than the GPS unit built-into iOS devices. This becomes increasingly important in high-speed activities like automotive racing. An external GPS unit is especially recommended for close quarters events such as autocross and karting.

Now you can import data from your GPS logger devices, meaning you dont even need to have your phone with you while driving.

Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
